Are you struggling to break into the
medical or health industry in Africa?
The 2024 Aspen GIBS Route-to-Market Challenge is a competition for entrepreneurs in the medical and health space. If you have an existing business that is supporting, producing or servicing the medical or health industry, we want you!
The 2024 Aspen GIBS Route-to-Market Challenge, powered by Raizcorp, is offering you an opportunity to pitch your business to Aspen’s leadership and, if successful, head of procurement. This is your chance to step up your business to whole new level and gain access to new markets.
This competition is about access and support, not money, with the aim of growing small- and medium-sized businesses to significantly contribute to the medical and health industries for both clinicians and patients.

STEP 1
The top 5 applicants will receive guidance from GIBS experts on how to prepare an information pack to pitch their business.
This includes sessions with:
- Adrian Saville on financial strategy
- Ian Macleod on entrepreneurial storytelling
- Allon Raiz on the tools of entrepreneurial success
The top 5 applicants will then have an opportunity to present this and pitch their business to Aspen leadership and a panel of judges assembled by the GIBS Centre for African Management and Markets (CAMM).
The judging panel will include:
- Stavros Nicolau (Aspen)
- Allon Raiz (Raizcorp)
- Lee Naik (TransUnion)
- Tebogo Skwambane (WPP South Africa)
- Nomsa Nteleko (OS Holdings)
STEP 2
The top 3 businesses, as chosen by our judges, will advance to a further interview with judges and Aspen leadership. This is where we would really get to know your business, and whether we have synergies. You can use some of the skills we have shared in the prior round to impress us.
One overall winner will be chosen. This business receives the opportunity to explore integrating your product/service into the Aspen supply chain and ecosystem.
We do not guarantee that any commercial relationship will result from this process. The mission of the Route-to-Market Challenge is to unearth high-potential businesses, provide them with targeted coaching and guidance, and immerse them with the relevant teams at Aspen for a full exploration of potential synergies.
